About.

Robert obtained a degree in geological sciences from Oxford Brookes and followed this with an MSc in Mineral Project Appraisal at Imperial College in 2003. His masters thesis was a technical and financial evaluation of the Sappes gold project in Greece, now owned by Eldorado Gold.

Following three years as an environmental consultant, Robert joined Roskill Information Services – a London-based commodity research company focussed on critical and strategic materials – as a commodities analyst. In 2009, Robert started managing Roskill’s industrial minerals division and later took on its minor metals division. In 2012, he became Managing Director and Head of Consulting, following the sale of the company to new owners.

In 2020, Robert left Roskill and joined Johnson Matthey’s Battery Materials business as Value Chain Expert working in the supply chain strategy team and responsible for long-term strategic partnership and procurement activities for battery raw materials. Following Johnson Matthey’s exit of the cathode materials business in 2022 he left to start his own consulting practice.

Robert is a global authority on battery raw materials and has a global network of contacts.
